Why do mechanics assume women know nothing about cars?

I have a fairly good understanding of cars, i took mine to my local mechanic and told him what i thought was wrong with my car. He promptly replied "oh, no love its not that its blah blah blah!!"

I return a few hours later to find out it was exactly what i said and he never even apologised or commented that i was right!!

Do we have stupid written on our heads?
